When you are managing a football team on football manager, one of the most enjoyable aspects of the game is getting regen players through to your youth team and getting them into your first team. This is an aspect of the game I focus on alot. You need to make sure your facilities are as good as they can be and you also need to ensure the staff member you have for your head of youth development is as good as possible for your club.

Judging player potential - Clearly the ability to judge how good a player might be in future is a great attribute to have. If your staff members can recognise high potential, then the better chance you have of getting better youth players through your ranks.

Working with youngsters - I know its not on football manager at present, but I do like to think behind the scenes there is an element of your staff members working with regens and youth players before they come into your under 18 team. Clearly if this does not happen on football manager at the moment, then even when you have youth players in your under 18 team, they need to get on well with your youth players, so they will learn more in training etc.

Determination - Sometimes this attribute is linked with personality, most of the time the higher the determination the better the personality. So do pay key attention to this attribute. So if you find someone with 20 determination and professional personality, this is perfect.

Head of youth development personality

This is vital, you need to make sure your head of youth development has a good personality. His personality can be passed onto your regens, so this is important. I highly recommend you try and get someone who has a professional personality or spirited. These are my personal favourite personalities to look out for, when signing any staff member.
