Football Manager Guide to Dealing With Injuries in Training - Jack Wilshere

When you are playing football manager it is important to make sure you have your best players on the pitch and to make sure you teams fitness is high. If you have a number of players who are lacking match fitness then this is not going to be good for getting the best results out of your team.

Players will always pick up injuries and some injuries you are not able to prevent. If a player gets tackled during a game and picks up an injury this is the type of thing you are not able to prevent. If you set up a training program for a player that is too heavy and he get injured, then this is the type of thing you can prevent.

In this article we are going to review areas to make sure you keep your players healthy and off the injury table as much as possible.

Football Manager Preventing Injuries Guide: Training

There is always a temptation to put your players on a higher training intensity program so they could improve quicker. If you do this though you are risking player injury more. Its important to not push your players too much in training, they need to be challenged, but don't work them too hard or your players will get injured more.

You also need to think about what type of training to give your players. During the pre-season, you might want to focus more on match preparation, so working on new tactics etc. If your team is fluid with a tactic then you might want to consider letting your players work more on their attributes during training. The best way to do this is to make sure you are changing your training programs depending the time of the season.

You also need to be resting your players. If you are playing as a big team or playing in a league where you will be playing alot of matches, then you need to be thinking about how often you train your players. If you are playing over the Christmas period, do you really want your players to be playing a game, going into training the next day and then having another game soon after? Would it be better to let them rest in between matches? These are the type of things you need to be thinking about.

The last area of training to consider is that if you give your players individual training workloads, then this will have a heavier impact on them. When you have younger players, you might see that he has a strength attribute of three and you want to improve this. Imagine if a player is doing his normal training and then needing to do extra training in the gym to improve his strength. Although he might develop quicker, is he too young to be pushed into doing this type of thing?
