FM 2015 What makes a Good Winger?

When playing Football Manager and creating a tactic for your team, it can be a good idea to try and use wingers. I personally like to use wingers as part of my tactics to try and supply width to my formation and to supply good crosses to my striker(s). Generally when I am creating a tactic, I do like to use target men or poachers, depending on the attributes of the striker.

There are several key attributes to look out for when signing a winger for your team. Pace and crossing will be the most obvious ones to look out for, so I will highlight some other attributes to look out for.
Off the ball - I have recently been spending a lot of time making sure that all of my attacking players have good off the ball attributes. This attribute will ensure that your players are in the right position at the right time. This is great for a more fluid tactic and can be great to watch on the 3D match engine when your players have licence to roam.
Flair - This for me is another important attribute, you think of all the best wingers in the world and they have a high amount of flair and dribbling. Wingers with a bit of flair and good dribbling attributes will be more exciting to watch and generally that bit of skill that they can produce will create more chances for your team.
Runs with ball more often (PPM) - When playing football manager, you are able to train your players in preferred moves. There are lots that you can train your player on, there are movement PPMs and more mental type preferred moves you can train your players on. When I am looking for wingers, I think it is a good idea to try and get wingers with "runs with ball more often" and "hugs touchline". I like both of these preferred moves for my wingers and does compliment the flair and dribbling attributes.
If you do use wingers are part of your teams tactic on football manager, then make sure you are reviewing the above attributes. I often find that the wingers I have in my team will get the most assists and they are also exciting to watch when they are running down the wing with the ball.
