FM17 Youth Academy Challenge - Tandragee - Getting Organised

So upon starting my FM17 youth academy challenge, I had highlighted why this challenge was so difficult. Of course I am not allowed to sign any new player for my team and I need to just cope with the players that start at the club.

I have just started to take a look at the squad in more detail. We have one goalkeeper and one left midfielder. That first youth intake can't come soon enough.

The average of my squad is 28. Considering that 22 players out of the current team are 30 years and older, this is very worrying indeed. I did highlight in the first post that we did not have many players who will make good tutors. So I will basically need to just keep hold of them for the experience until we are in a position to replace them with younger players.

I actually have a 44 year old center back. Yes you read that correctly 44 years old.

I have been looking for a new Head of Youth Development. My idea was to try and find a staff member with a good personality to try and increase the the number of players coming through the academy with better personalities. I could not find any staff members to fit the bill, so needed to sign someone who would do a job for a season. Hopefully next season I will be able to find a better Head of Youth Development.

I have arranged the pre-season friendlies and I have started to put together my tactics. I will put together a post about my tactics in the next post.

Pre-season friendlies

In terms of getting my back room staff organised, I need to sign a physio, one more coach and then that will probably be it. I do not need any scouts, so that will save us some money. Potentially down the line, if the club got big enough I would sign scouts to just use them for their scouting knowledge. This would enable me to get players from different countries into the club. This would probably be in about two decades though.

I cant help thinking this is going to be the biggest challenge I have ever undertaken on any football manager.
