When playing football manager, there will be times when you will need to move players on from the team you are managing, this can be for a number of reasons. You just need to make sure that when you sell players it is for the right reasons and that it is good for your club.
Recently in the news it has been documented that Raheem Sterling was not happy at playing for Liverpool, this was to engineer a transfer to Manchester City. The transfer is set to be £49m, which of course is lots of money, but Liverpool are losing out on wonderkid Sterling, who is still only 20 years old.
Manchester City will be buying the player for his potential and even at the age of 20 he can make an impact on the City squad straight away, which of course with the price tag is what will be expected of him.
There can be a number of reasons to sell a player from your team, below we will list some of the key instances when this might need to happen.
Contract expiry - as a manager, you might decide not to renew a players contract, it is a very good idea to remove deadwood from your team and move on any player you do not want to have in your squad.
Age - there comes a time when players will need to leave your club due to their age, the performance of the players might start to suffer if age is catching up with them. Drogba for Chelsea in his last season, at the age of 37 was a shadow of his prime playing days.
Transfer offers - there will be times when you will receive an offer for a player that is too good to turn down, every player will have his value and if you do receive an offer for a player that is very good, then you might decide to move them on.
